LET THEM (Part 2)

Part two of a discussion of the Mel Robbins book The LET THEM Theory. How does the LET ME portion of her theory interplay with Biblical forgiveness? What is a dark muse and how can you use the power of pain to propel you life forward? Satan wants us to be stuck in a bog of bitterness, comparison and self-defeat. But we can use comparison as fuel for our personal goals. Mel Robbins has (yet again) articulated a profound Biblical concept in a secular voice. Jesus tells us to turn the other cheek- LET THEM do what they want, LET ME put my focus on moving forward.

LET THEM

I decided to pick up a book that everyone has been raving about lately- It’s called Let Them by Mel Robbins. I’m sure you’ve heard of it. Apparently its all the rage.

The good news is, its a very quick read, so I didn’t have to invest much time to get the main takeaways. Although to be honest, I didn’t take much away other than her catchy phrase (which encapsulates truth that any emotionally- introspective, rational person already knows.) Essentially, you can’t control the thoughts or behaviors of anyone else, so LET THEM be who they are. And secondly, you can exert tremendous control over your reactions, so LET ME manage my own self the best I can.

Enjoy the Ride

I love the idea of a blog. I love the thought of putting my voice out into the universe in the hopes that somebody out there will read it and find resonance. I love the act of writing, though I am not very disciplined at it- it is a muscle that doesn’t get exercized as often as it should.

I’m not 100% certain this blog format is the best for my style, as I tend to sprinkle plenty of illustrative memes throughout my ramblings. In essence, this is a trial run of the website template I am using.

That’s the rub about these things. As a non-expert in (pretty much) anything cyber or technical, I shop for website templates like home decor- the aesthetics draws me in, only to find out they are relatively cumbersome, and sometimes useless, after I have already paid for them.

And so it is with this site. I love the layout. I don’t love the functionality. But I had no way of understanding the frustrating user experience until after I had paid $200. So this post is an attempt to work with what I’ve got.

Meanwhile, over on Wordpress, you will see my attempt to create a website out of a blog template- another hydra headed beast that has no plausible reason to persist. There you will find over 200 blog posts with no way to access them. Here, you find a beautiful garden of thumbnails but the user interface is wretched. So this may be my only post.

As it stands, I don’t see a way to copy from one site to the other- so here we are in my typical conundrum- having duplicated my efforts and reduced my efficiency by half. Welcome to my world of “figure it out as you go!”

I hope you enjoy the ride :)

At least I never said it would be boring.
