Enjoy the Ride
I love the idea of a blog. I love the thought of putting my voice out into the universe in the hopes that somebody out there will read it and find resonance. I love the act of writing, though I ‘m not very disciplined- it’s a muscle that doesn’t get exercised as often as it should.
I’m also not 100% certain this blog format is the best for my style, as I tend to sprinkle plenty of illustrative memes throughout my ramblings. In essence, this is a trial run of the website template I’m using.
That’s the rub about these things. As a non-expert in (pretty much) anything cyber or technical, I shop for website templates like home decor- the aesthetics draw me in, only to discover the items purchased are cumbersome, sometimes useless, after I have already paid for them.
And so it is with this Squarespace site. I love the layout. I don’t love the functionality. Frankly, it has a lot of poorly designed features. Of course, I had no way of knowing just how frustrating the user experience would be until after I paid $200. So, this blog post is an attempt to work with what I’ve got.
Perhaps this beginning is not the best way to win over an audience. Perhaps it will save someone from making the same mistakes I’ve made. Or perhaps noone will see this post at all, in which case this exercise will be exactly as intended - first day back at the gym, flexing these atrophied muscles in the hopes that nobody is watching me in the mirror.

Meanwhile, over on my Wordpress site, you will see the inverse attempt to create a website out of a blog template- another hydra headed beast that has no plausible reason to persist. On my dandelionseed.blog, there exist over 200posts, but I haven’t found an easy way to access them. Here, you find a beautiful gallery of blogpost thumbnails but the user interface is wretched. So this may be my only post.
As it stands, I don’t see a way to copy from one site to the other- so here we are in my typical conundrum- having duplicated my efforts and reduced efficiency by half. Welcome Rachel’s world of “jump in the deep end & learn to swim as you go!”
Anyhoo, I hope you enjoy the ride :) At least I never said it would be boring.
